Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Africa West Area promoted the April General Conference of the Church by appearing on local television and radio stations. The local church members used these live appearances to summarize the broadcast schedules in each of the countries and to bear testimony of the importance of being taught by latter-day prophets and apostles.
Media outlets in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, and Nigeria welcomed the Church representatives, who had been chosen by their local leaders, to summarize the key details of General Conference and to respond to questions and comments from the on-air hosts. The visits took place on 4-5 April.

In each of the interviews, a local young single adult was chosen to represent the Church.
The opportunity to share information on live General Conference broadcasts is something truly special for West African saints and access to these sessions is something that these members do not take for granted. For years access to General Conference was limited to satellite broadcasts to Stake Centers, video recordings sent to stakes, printed copies of conference in the Liahona, on on-line resources from the Church websites.
In April 2020, the first live broadcasts were made available to the local members. The Church, working with media outlets throughout the area, has arranged for the Conference sessions to be shown on some of the largest television stations in West Africa, in both English and French.
The participants had the opportunity to bear their testimonies of the gospel of Jesus Christ and share with their communities how important and valuable the General Conference is for members of the Church and their friends.
