Church donates Mechanized Borehole to St Joseph High School

On March 18^th, Latter-day Saint Charities the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints  donated a mechanized borehole, which is a drilled well that provides water, and a poly tank for the storage of the water, to St. Joseph Senior High Technical School (School).  Elder Lyle Parry, a Communication Missionary, represented the Church at the ceremonial donation. Also attending the ceremony from the Church were Sister Cricket Parry and Emelia Ahadjie, the Communication Director for the Africa West Area and Elder Chris and Sister Karen Shepherd, Humanitarian Missionaries who oversaw the project.  Receiving the donation on behalf of the School was the School Headmaster, Isaac Nkrumah Frimpong.

The School is located near a small community of Ahwiren in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.  There are 1128 students at the school and an additional 110 staff. The school has had a pipe from the community which is a long distance away.  This pipe brought a small amount of water to the school but was insufficient especially in the dry season when there was not enough water for the school and the community to function properly. The school will now be able to not only have water, but will be able to utilize the toilet facilities. The donation coincided with the 30^th birthday of the School. Mr. Frimpong indicated that this is a solution to one of our major problems which could not have come at any better time than during this Covid-19 pandemic when water is needed more than ever before.

This is one of many borehole projects that continue to bless the lives of the African people in the Africa West Area of the Church.
