Developing moral and ethical business leaders is the goal of the Brigham Young University Management Society's new chapter in Accra, Ghana.
The BYU Management Society Ghana Chapter was recently honored for its excellence in leadership activity, service, reporting and making strides in Ghana and the West Africa sub-region.
The chapter received the Dean’s Chapter of Excellence Award at the annual leadership conference held on campus at the BYU Marriott School of Management in Utah. Brigham Young University is a private institution owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is the largest religious university and third-largest private university in the United States.
“Being the first chapter in Africa places a huge responsibility on our shoulders,” said chapter president Seth Ogoe Ayim. “We are pioneers leading Ghana and Africa in championing moral and ethical leadership. We come to the table determined to succeed.”
Ayim said the greatest motivation for being associated with the BYU Management Society is to cultivate a rising generation of professionals in Ghana and Africa who are willing to take up the challenge of maintaining high standards of leadership in this part of the world.
In November, chapter board members shared news of the award with Africa West Area leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Elder LeGrand Curtis Jr., a senior Church leader and Philippe J. Kradolfer, director of Temporal Affairs in West Africa, congratulated the group on its accomplishments in Ghana since the chapter’s inception in September of 2012.
“We are pleased with the enthusiasm displayed by the Ghana chapter in embracing the values of the BYU Management Society,” said Elder Curtis. “By banding together in this chapter, the members of the society here in Ghana can support each other in living those values and promoting a culture of integrity and service.”

With more than 90 chapters in 25 countries, the organization is committed to promoting lifelong learning, service and networking opportunities and supporting BYU.
