Missionaries from the Accra Ghana Mission and Young Single Adults of the Christiansborg stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on Saturday November 24, 2018 joined hands to conduct a service project at the Accra Rehabilitation Center in Accra.
The service project which lasted for two hours, is in preparation towards the Light The World Campaign launch. Light The World, a campaign spearheaded by the Church; is an invitation to approach the Christmas season with a renewed focus on service and giving our time, love, and resources as Jesus gave. This year the initiative is structured around the four weeks leading up to Christmas Day.

Each week people are invited to serve others within their different spheres of influence in the world, their community, and their own family. The final week focuses on the individual and how these acts of service can strengthen his or her own faith in Christ.
The campaign which will be launched on December 1, 2018 at the Accra Rehabilitation Center, will run on the theme “Give As He Gave”. To meet the core objectives of the campaign which are, testify to the world of the reality and importance of our Savior, Jesus Christ and encourage believers, seekers and members to ‘Light the World’ through acts of service, the Accra Rehabilitation Center a Government institution that provides training in Carpentry, Tailoring, Shoe-making and Craft work for Persons With Disabilities, was selected as venue for the launch.
Elder Edward Dube, first Counselor in the Africa West Area Presidency and his wife, Naume paid a visit to the Center during the service project. They expressed utmost shock when the department manager, Mr. Abraham Kwesi Sarfo exhibited some of the creative pieces put together by the trainees.
He said “This is impressive, these are the places we need to pay attention to. This is an indication that we cannot fail in life”.
Elder Dube further noted that although the trainees are handicapped, they do not allow their situation to limit their efforts towards success in life. “We need to increase our efforts on the teaching of self-reliance principles among our members” he added.
