Public Affairs Team Meets Paramount Chief

It was a beautiful sight to behold when the Lilies Dance Crew of Osu, ushered the Africa West Area Public Affairs team of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints into the Osu Manste (King of the Ga people) palace, amid singing and display of diverse African dance.

The Country and Area Directors paid a visit to the Osu Manste, His Majesty D.F. Nii Kinka Dowouna VI after a successful completion of a two-day training program which took place at the Africa West Area Office Complex.

The Osu Manste who was pleased by the visit said “I am delighted to have you in my palace. I was stunned when you notified me of your intentions to visit. This means that we are now family”.

“Tradition is not fetish," said the King. "It is also not different from the gospel; therefore, it is important for us to educate the youth on the rich cultural values we have as Africans”.

Upon the instructions of the Osu Manste, the Public Affairs team was taken on a tour of the palace and educated on the history of the Osu Stool, as well as the traditional symbols displayed around the palace.

Mrs. Emelia Ahadjie, Africa West Area Public Affairs Director, commended His Majesty D.F. Nii Kinka Dowouna VI for his reception and called on him to constantly open his doors to the Church for future collaborations on projects.

Joseph Oko Adokwei, Co-Founder of Lilies Foundation remarked that “The children who just performed those cultural dances are from my foundation. They seek to build postive relations through our cultural heritage. We welcome help from your Church and encourage cooperation between one another.”

The Osu Stool land includes areas in the Greater Accra Region such as Dzorwulu, Adenta, Madina, and Cantoments.
