Taifa Polyclinic Receives Laboratory Equipment

LDS Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has donated laboratory equipment to authorities of Taifa Polyclinic which enables them to conduct timely medical tests for patients.

The equipment donated was a chemistry analyzer, an electrolyte analyzer, an Olympus microscope, and an electronic scale.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony at the premises of the hospital in Accra, Dr. Charles Dewhurst, Senior Medical Assistant at Taifa Polyclinic, explained the hospital has faced challenges conducting timely medical tests due to lack of laboratory equipment onsite.

He stated, "Often medical samples must be sent to other laboratories before a test can be completed. This donated equipment will enable us to recieve test results the same day or within a short period of time.”

Dr. Dewhurst revealed that Taifa Polyclinic is a facility which provides medical help to approximately 54, 000 people in the community and its environs.

According to Elder Geoff and Sister Sydney Germane, Africa West Area Welfare Specialists for LDS Charities the Church is committed to an improved healthcare delivery in the country.

Yaw Adjin Danso of the Madina Stake (congregations of the Church are organized geographically, and members attend worship services near their home) presented the donation certificate to authorities of the clinic.
