Latter-day Saints Donate Blood to Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital

Church Members Save Lives in Western Region

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the Takoradi and Mpintsin Ghana Stakes (a group of congregations) recently held a blood donation event at the Takoradi Stake Center.

Following the screening of 150 members of the Church, 94 donated blood.

Emil Anornu, donor organizer for Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital said, “We thank each of you for your donation today. The contribution from members of your church is memorable.”

Mr. Anornu stressed the need for donated blood at their facility. “We urge you to continue your donations,” he said. “Your gift can mean the difference between life and death for those in need.”

Also participating were Mrs. Faustina Aidoo, a senior phlebotomist, and Mr. Gabriel Djokoto, biomedical scientist.

Latter-day Saints participate in the semi-annual event sponsored by the Church. The goal is to provide service for those in need and to restock the regional blood bank.

Church Public Affairs Representative Peter Atta Aidoo said, “The blood donation exercise is the Church’s way of helping to save lives and our way of giving back to society.”

Stake Presidents Justice Odro-Mensah and Peter Tetteh Dzipkea attended the event, as well as bishops from many Latter-day Saint congregations.
